Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Societies (AMCOS) manage 95% of Tanzania’s coffee production. Smallholders register with AMCOS to receive support in production, processing, storage, transport, marketing, and federal aid; otherwise, their beans would have no way of reaching the global market. The Hezya AMCOS started out with only 50 smallholder coffee growers. They’ve grown to 295 from the Haraka, Hezya, and Izumbi villages in the Mbozi region.
